Maytag
It's true. The commercials about the Maytag repairman not having much work to do. I have a Maytag washer and dryer that I purchased in 1995, so they are 17 years old. In the 17 years I have only had someone out to repair two times. Both times it was the dryer. Both times a fan (that blows the air out to the vent) had to be replaced. One time it broke because one of my grandchildren (don't know which one) stuck a toy in it. If I don't count that time it would be one repair in 17 years! Lots of folks have used my washer and dryer over the years. So I figure a minimum of 5 loads a week. Over 17 years that is 4,420 loads of laundry, and only 1 repair. Cant' get much better than that! Even though I am not having any problems with the washer and dryer, I want to get a new set that is "energy star" certified. The set I have now is not "energy star" certified. So, what brand of washer/dryer do you own? Is is good? Are you or have you had much trouble with them? Should I stick to Maytag, or is there another brand out there that is just as good? Let me know what you think.

For many years I have used Kenmore.
A Sears product. Haven't had ANY
trouble with them. MD
Okay I know I am bad but today is the first day I actually went in the laundary room to check and make sure I do have Maytags. I do.
We bought them when we moved into this house 9 years ago and have never had any trouble with them. The only Maytag we had to have serviced is the dishwasher and they were very efficient and came out in a timely manner.
Steve always checks on Consumer Reports website when he wants to purchase something new. I am sure they have something on washer and dryers and you can see what other people think. Let us know what you decide.
