Carly Simon

Have you ever had trouble coming up with a name for a family pet? I recently (3 days ago) accepted the gift of a kitten. I don't know why I couldn't say NO. The kitten was so cute, that's probably why the word NO wouldn't come out of my mouth. With all that said, I now have the kitten. Coming up with a name is a whole other issue. See, first of all, I don't have any idea if this cat is a girl or a boy. I am not experienced in determining kitten gender. My granddaughter wanted to call it Carly. Well, that is a good name IF it is a girl. See, I'd hate to call it Carly and then it turn out to be a boy. I suppose I could shorten Carly to Carl and that would be that. But a cat named Carl? That just doesn't sound right to me. So I decided to call the cat Carly Simon. If it turns out this is a boy cat, then I'll drop the Carly and call him Simon. Actually, I don't know why we give cats names anyway. They don't come when you call them, they don't respond to their name at all. Here's some pics of my new pet. Mind you, Carly Simon would not stay still for the pictures. You can't teach a cat to pose!
