1 Thing in Your House Dirtier Than A Toilet

THE KEYBOARD YOU ARE USING RIGHT NOW

Your keyboard can be an incredibly accurate representation of what’s in your nose and your stomach. Of 33 randomly sampled computer keyboards tested by a British consumer group this year, four were dirty enough to be considered a health hazard, and one harbored hundreds of times more bacteria than your average toilet seat. Of course, not everyone’s keyboard is this dirty; contributing factors include not washing your hands after using the bathroom, picking your nose, and eating at your computer, as the crumbs left behind tend to become little bacteria factories. Experts recommend regularly swabbing your keyboard with lightly-dampened alcohol wipes on a regular basis — and be sure to shake those cookie crumbs out, too.

Did you know that keyboards can be washed? You can put them in your dishwasher, or soak them in the tub. It is a good idea to have an extra keyboard laying around the house. When the one you are using gets dirty, just wash it. Of course you have to use the extra one until the one you wash dries out. I usually let them dry out for a couple of days. By the way, if you put it in your dishwasher, don't use the "heated" drying option, as that could cause problems.

Using alchol wipes is also a good idea. But don't try to use them while you are posting a blog, or your blog will look like this:

OOPS, I forgot to mention something: DO NOT wash your keyboard in the dishwasher or tub if you use a laptop, or if you have a wireless keyboard!

Excellent advice.

Now I know how my wife has been catching me eating cookies at night. I think she's pulling a CSI on my keyboard in the mornings.

The alcohol wipe advice cracked me up! ROFLOL

I cannot believe you can put a keyboard in the dishwasher?? Who would have thought. Glad you clarified about laptops. Dummies like me would have probably tried it :)
