Apparently there is a thing going on at kid's birthday parties where the kids who attend expect to get something too. I don't know how to explain it, so I'll just say that each child that attended walked away with candy, folders, sunglasses, light sticks, etc. I am not saying this is bad, I just wonder when this tradition started? Has it always been around and I have just been clueless? Seems it costs parents enough just to throw their kids a party, much less having to then purchase party favors for all the kids in attendance. I guess I am just living in the past where kids were glad to go to birthday parties for the cake and ice cream and playing pin the tail on the donkey.

Alyssa's Birthday Party
My granddaughter turned 7 on July 10th. We celebrated her birthday yesterday out at Kiroli park. I think she had a good time, but it was rather HOT. Most of the kids stayed under the pavillion and didn't even go play on the playground stuff.

Thanks for the pictures. MY! MY!
7 years old. She/they are growing
up so fast. I agree with you
on the favors. MD
Glad Alyssa had a fun birthday. Just be thankful she was content to have it at a park. Most kids want it at an expensive game room or whatever and then still do the favors. I am not sure when that started either, but now I watch as these young moms try to outdo each other. But then again what happened to just getting a baseball mit or skates for your birthday as opposed to a $300+ Wii?
I can't help but wonder if we are not getting ready to be forced to return to simplier times?
