My Morning

I went to sleep pretty early last night. Actually, I fell asleep at 3 p.m. and woke up at 7. I stayed up until around 10 and then crawled back in bed. Consequently, I woke up at 4:30 this morning. When I woke up, I grabbed my glasses and put them on, because all I see without them is blurry stuff. Then I go turn on my computer and go in the kitchen to make me a cup of coffee. When I go back in the bedroom and sit at my computer, there on the wall right in front of me is a big cockroach. One of those big black ones! I detest roaches. I think it is because somewhere in my little pea brain I think that roaches are a sign of a home being filthy and/or dirty. I don't know where I come by that notion. At any rate, this HUGE roach is only about 3 feet from my face and right above my computer. So I quickly devise a plan. I don't want to smash it because it is on my wall calendar, sitting right on the July 13th box. YUCK. I have some "flying insect" insecticide in the laundry room, so I move quitely and quickly (right!) to get the stuff. When I get back in the room, I devise another strategy, which I never should have done. I didn't want to smash the thing, but I didn't want to spray insecticide at it either since it was close to my computer. So I notice my trash can. I can quickly place the trash can over the thing and then use the calendar as a top to trap it, then I can spray it. Great Plan! It worked fine until I tried to remove the calendar from the wall while keeping it on the trash can. I dropped everything! Did I mention how much I detest roaches? So off it runs behind my computer. Well, now I have to spray it. I wonder if "flying" insecticde will work, but I spray anyway. Mind you, I can't really see the thing since it is somewhere in all the wires and stuff. After spraying liberally (GASP, I can't breathe), I go get my broom and dustpan. I decide I will diligently watch the area until it moves and I can see it. But when I come back with the broom and dust pan, it is in the middle of my floor writhing in agony. YESSSSS! So I sweep it up and put it in the trash can where I had orginally trapped it. So that's how my morning went. Sorry I blogged about cockroaches. Not a pretty topic or one I am sure anybody would want to read. How do those big things get in a house anyway?

I created a picture so you can see what I am talking about. The roach in the picture is not the actual varmint. I found it online and inserted it.

I hate cockroaches too! They are just disgusting, don't you wonder what use God saw for them?

I loved that story, even though I hate roaches with a passion.

Here's what I did one time. There was a roach crawling on the wall and I had some rubber bands on my desk. I wound them up into a mega-load, aimed, fired, and killed the roach in one shot. I probably could never do it again. But on that day, I was the king of big game roach hunters.
